BEHIND THE DESIGN

At Sewfisticated, our passion has always been creating travel-friendly and back-to-school bags that blend practicality with style. When the Travelnizer was released, it quickly became a community favorite - selling over 1,000 copies and proving just how much makers value designs that make packing effortless.

The Packmate was born as a natural continuation of that spirit. While the Travelnizer focused on roomy compartments, Packmate offers a sleeker silhouette without compromising on storage. I had originally planned to release this design later, but during pattern discussion, my team suggested moving it forward - they immediately saw how perfect it would be as a Christmas gift bag.

That encouragement shaped Packmate into what it is today: a thoughtful balance of sleek lines, smart compartments, and versatile sizes to suit all kinds of travelers. Designed as a toiletry bag, it’s just as functional as a lunch bag, craft bag or even a crossbody - making it a truly adaptable companion. You also have the option to make a simplified PackMate version without the two side zipper pockets.

FEATURES

The PackMate is built to handle larger items, with room for bottles up to 8-1/4" (21 cm) standing upright. Its key features include:

  • A flap with two mesh zipper pockets for small essentials
  • An interior lined with mesh pockets to keep everything organized
  • Two side zipper pockets with mesh sections for brushes, toothbrushes, and slim items
  • A hook-through zipper flap that allows the bag to hang for easy access
  • Two D-rings for attaching a strap and carrying crossbody
  • A top grab handle for quick transport
  • Spacious interior that holds larger items, with room for bottles up to 8 1/4" (21 cm) standing upright

With pockets galore, Packmate keeps travel necessities neatly organized and always within reach, making it the perfect practical companion for any journey.

All our patterns come with an approved video tutorial.

If you’re interested in creating a video tutorial for any Sewfisticated pattern, please reach out to me before you begin filming. I’d love to hear your plans and ensure everything aligns with the intended design.

Here are a few important guidelines to follow:

  • Always include a link to the original pattern.
  • Do not show or share any paper pattern pieces or measurements.
  • Avoid displaying your cut pieces on a gridded cutting mat throughout the video.
  • It's strongly recommended to do a trial test run, especially if you're new to Sewfisticated patterns. This helps you become familiar with the construction and terminology before filming.

Once your tutorial is complete, feel free to share the link with me. I’ll be happy to consider adding it to my website. However, please note that I reserve the right not to share tutorials that don’t follow these guidelines or include modifications I do not recommend.
