THE STORY BEHIND THE BREEZE PACK

The Breeze Pack has been a long time coming. It started as an unfinished project more than three years ago and sat quietly in my work-in-progress pile, waiting for the right moment to come back to life.

That moment came after Charlotte’s birthday party, when she received a little backpack as a gift from the venue. She loved the size and wore it everywhere, but after just three outings the bag started to give way. It reminded me how much a small, lightweight backpack is needed for everyday outings, and how much better it could be if it were made to last. So out came the old project.

The original concept stayed the same - compact and easy to carry - but almost everything else changed. The single zipper pocket became two hidden zipper pockets, the size increased slightly to hold an A4 file folder, and I added an optional tech compartment that also fits an A4 file. Charlotte had a special request too: a key leash inside the hidden pocket, so her card holder is always within reach and never lost at the bottom of the bag.

THE SEWFISTICATED BREEZE PACK

The Breeze Pack is a lightweight backpack designed for short excursions, school outings and everyday adventures, keeping your hands free for whatever the day brings.

Two versions: the Standard Breeze Pack, and the Breeze Pack with Tech Compartment, which adds a padded dual compartment that fits an iPad Pro or an A4 file folder. Both versions include two hidden zipper pockets with a key leash, plus an interior zipper pocket for extra peace of mind.

Anti-theft design: the zipper sits right against your back when worn, so no sneaky hands can get into your belongings while you are out and about! For extra security, add a swivel clasp to each attachment tab and hook it onto a zipper pull with a hole, so the zipper stays locked in place until you unclip it.

Attachment tabs: not just for security! Clip on a cap, plushie or favourite bag charm to give each Breeze Pack a personal touch.

Comfort and finish: choose a 3D Airmesh back panel for breathability, or keep it simple with your exterior fabric. Adjustable straps with ladder locks, a bag hook and neatly bound interior seams give the Breeze Pack a polished, ready-to-wear finish.

Perfect for panel prints: with its clean front panel, the Breeze Pack is made for showing off panel prints or fabrics with a rapport. A fussy cut placement guide is included for the Front Panel Exterior, so you can position your favourite motif exactly where you want it.

Recommended fabrics: lightweight fabrics such as Waterproof Canvas (without PVC backing), Bonded Repel and the Sewfisticated Essential fabric line. Not suitable for vinyl.

When printing the pattern pieces using your computer and Adobe Reader, ensure that you select the "Actual" size option and measure the 1" or 2.5/3 cm test box to confirm that your pattern pieces are printed at the correct size. Select "Automatic" for paper orientation to ensure proper alignment. Please note that using tablets or smartphones may result in deviations.

Measurements

All cutting measurements provided throughout the pattern are listed as width x height.

Seam allowances (SA) are highlighted in RED throughout the pattern instructions for easy reference.

Measurements are given in both Imperial (Inches) and Metric (CM) units for your convenience.

It's strongly recommended to do a trial test run, especially if you're new to Sewfisticated patterns. This helps you become familiar with the construction and terminology before filming.
