BEHIND THE DESIGN

Inspired by a blanket backpack I bought back in 2023, the idea for the Cozy Carry has always been on my mind… I just never found the time to bring it to life. I promised myself this would be the year as we flew on a red-eye flight from Taiwan to Singapore in freezing weather. Thanks to that cozy blanket, the three of us survived the journey quite comfortably especially my frail mum, who had sprained her legs during the holiday.

This year, with a trip to a cold country on the horizon, it felt like the perfect moment to finally create it.

THE SEWFISTICATED COZY CARRY

The Cozy Carry is designed for makers who love practicality and comfort. It’s a clever blanket-to-bag design that transforms in seconds - perfect for kids, teens, and adults on the go.

Whether you’re on a long flight, a road trip, a school camp, or just lounging at a stayover, the Cozy Carry keeps you warm and organized. Fold it into a lightweight backpack and carry your essentials like a tablet, book, or travel must-haves. When unfolded, it becomes a soft, comforting blanket that’s ideal for snuggling up anywhere.

It comes in two sizes with four strap lengths, making it customizable for toddlers, kids, teens, and adults. Choose your favorite fabrics and personalise your Cozy Carry to match your travel style.

This pattern is also beginner-friendly, with clear steps and a sew along video to guide you from start to finish - so confidence is guaranteed, even for new sewists.

Please note that it’s not intended for everyday home use, and younger children should always be supervised when using it (straps).

The Cozy Carry comes in two sizes:
SNUG - perfect for a throw, 50" x 60"
COMFY - blanket size, 59" x 79"

If you prefer more interior space and are using a smaller blanket, consider the Comfy size instead. Blanket thickness matters especially if you plan to carry items like a tablet or book in the main compartment.

There are four lengths of backpack straps - Petite, Standard, Tall and Extra Tall. Since the Cozy Carry is machine washable, no hardware is required other than zipper tape and pulls.

Select "Automatic" for paper orientation to ensure proper alignment. Please note that using tablets or smartphones may result in deviations.

Measurements

All cutting measurements provided throughout the pattern are listed as width x height.

Seam allowances (SA) are highlighted in RED throughout the pattern instructions for easy reference.

Measurements are given in both Imperial (Inches) and Metric (CM) units for your convenience.

Here are a few important guidelines to follow:

Always include a link to the original pattern.
Do not show or share any paper pattern pieces or measurements.
Avoid displaying your cut pieces on a gridded cutting mat throughout the video.
It's strongly recommended to do a trial test run, especially if you're new to Sewfisticated patterns. This helps you become familiar with the construction and terminology before filming.
